This new, single-level library overlooks an eight acre site of undisturbed flora and fauna. The stony roots of a community rich in iron ore are expressed in the architectural materials while the warmth and intimacy of multi-generational living are conveyed through the use of interior canopies, reading porches and wicker furniture. The children’s room echoes the themes of the Wizard of Oz and the children’s story room features murals of other famous story characters. Visitors often remark on the simple layout enhanced by the intricacy of the ceilings and columns which create many “places” to discover for working and reading.
